Tick control programs designed to reduce the threat of tick-borne diseases. Tick Control in Your Lawn

Tick control involves a multi-step process. First, we target ticks where they live. Using a special environmentally friendly insect control, we spray for ticks 3 times during the growing season.

The first spray applied in late spring helps control nymphs (this is the stage most associated with the transmission of Lyme Disease). Another summer spray is applied to control any additional nymphs that may have moved into the area and emerging adults. A third spray is applied in fall to control adult ticks. Please keep in mind no control program can guarantee 100% control of ticks or that a person or pet will never get Lyme Disease because the tick and it's hosts are mobile and may move into an already treated area.

After beginning a TurfMasters spraying program, next analyze your property and how you use it. Create a Tick Safe Zone for your children and pets. This means in part keeping children's play areas away from wooded areas. Astonishingly, 75% of all Lyme disease cases are acquired from ticks picked up during activities around the home.

If you live next to a wooded area, you'll want to seriously consider creating a Tick Safe Zone. This involves creating a barrier around the perimeter of your Safe Zone. This could be a swath of wood chips, mulch or gravel. Don't attract wildlife, including mice and birds. Keep bird feeders away from the children's play areas and away from the house.
