TurfMasters Tick Control Program
We use a special application of pyrethroid insect control that is sprayed
at an extremely low rate in tick habitats (mostly on the perimeter of
your property where ticks are most likely to enter your landscaped areas).
This spray is environmentally friendly and usually dries within an hour.
However, re-entry is not recommended for 24 hours to ensure maximum
effectiveness and limit exposure.
The TurfMasters Tick Control Program targets both the nymph and adult
stages of the deer tick for maximum control. This spray is applied 3
times during the growing season to control nymphs (late spring) which
is the growth stage most associated with the transmission of Lyme Disease;
summer to control emerging adults and any remaining nymphs; and then
again in the fall to control adult ticks.
Combined with personal protection, landscape management and the TurfMasters
Tick Control Program, you will greatly reduce any threat from tick borne
disease being contracted from your property.
Tick-borne Diseases:
- Lyme Disease
- Ehrlichiosis
- Babesiosis
- Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever
How to Remove a Tick
- Using tweezers, grasp the tick near the mouth parts (as close to
the skin as possible).
- Gently pull the tick in a steady, upward motion
- Wash the area and use a disinfectant on the bite site
- Record the date and location of the tick bite, and watch for early
symptoms of Lyme disease of the next few weeks.
All of the following only increase the likelihood a tick will
transmit the infection:
- DO NOT squeeze the tick
- DO NOT pour kerosene on it
- DO NOT rub vaseline on the tick
- DO NOT use a smoldering match or cigarette butt to burn off
the tick
